Beginners -Learn to Knit with Liz

Limited to five students 

Class One:   You will learn how to cast on and conquer the knit stitch.  During this class you will learn how to read a yarn label and we will introduce you to several different types of knitting needles.  We will spend time talking about yarn, its various weights and compositions.  If you feel comfortable with these topics, you may choose to attend Class Two instead. 

Class Two:  You will conquer the purl stitch and incorporate it with the knit stitch through pattern practice.  You will learn how to bind off your project and we will review all of the above before sending you out to solo knit!  

Supplies:  10% off all supplies purchased here.  We recommend one skein of light colored worsted weight yarns and size 9, 10 or 11 Single point knitting needles. 

Class Dates:  Class one –Tuesday, February 2nd at 5:00pm to 6:30pm

                                          Sunday February 21st at 2:00pm to 3:30pm

                        Class two –Tuesday, Feb 9th at 5:00 to 6:30pm

                                          Sunday February 28th at 2:00 to 3:30pm

Cost:  $20 per class  

Instructor:  Liz  - Liz has taught basic knitting for nine years.  “I knit just about every day.  I can’t sit without my needles in my hands.  My mother taught me when I was very young and I passed the skills down to my daughter and granddaughter.  My goal is to watch a student be excited about the feel of yarn and needles in their hands.  I truly enjoy the experience of teaching beginners”

 

Beginner Socks Workshop 

Advanced Beginner

Class limited to five students 

Student will learn how to use double pointed needles, how to turn a heel and to produce a seamless sock.  Skills needed for class:  student must know how to cast-on, knit and purl, ssk, sl, and knit 2 together

Supplies:  230 yards or worsted weight yarn.  We recommend Cascade 20

                   Set of #6 double pointed needles

                   Pattern included in cost of class

                   10 Percent off all yarn purchased here for class

Class Dates:   Monday February 8th and 22nd, 5:30 to 7:00pm 

Cost: $30 per class

Private Beginner Knitting Lessons           

You will learn how to cast on and conquer the knit stitch.  During this class you will learn how to read a yarn label and we will introduce you to several different types of knitting needles.  We will spend time talking about yarn, its various weights and composition  You will conquer the purl stitch and incorporate it with the knit stitch through pattern practice.  You will learn how to bind off your project and at that point move on to more advanced patterns.

Supplies:  10% off all supplies purchased here.  We recommend one skein of light colored worsted weight yarns and size 9, 10 or 11 Single point knitting needles. 

Reservation:  Please call the shop on Tuesday's after 4:00pm and speak with Nancy to schedule your private knitting lesson.

Cost:  $35.00/per hour
